November 2007

While I’m no fan of mass transit, I think the Paris subway commute shown in the video below would be time well spent. Would that every train ride featured an act as talented as this one. It certainly beats the vapid content on the average morning radio show. Enjoy!

2008 campaign and News Media and Ron Paul18 Nov 2007 11:26 am

After the success of the ThisNovember5th.com money bomb, what should Ron Paul supporters do for an encore? Why not grab a feather and a little face paint, then have a party of your own? Call it bigger, better, and historical.

We witnessed an amazing event November 5th when the Ron Paul campaign raised some $4.2 million, almost entirely over the internet; thanks to the independent www.ThisNovember5th.com effort involving over 36,000 donors. The lamestream media were forced to take notice and report the unprecedented result that day. Indeed the Lamestream Idiot Media Pundits (LIMPs) were so impressed that some even managed to report the event without adding their usual comment that Ron Paul has no chance of winning. Could it be that it’s starting to occur to them that he might?

Since hardly a day goes by that we aren’t bombarded by Global Warming propaganda, occasionally exposed, it might be a good idea to have a look at the evidence. By that I don’t mean politically-motivated tomes such as Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth. What I mean is what evidence exists to support the ideas that Global Warming is either man-made or, in any event, really significant? The answer seems to be very little, and most of that appears to be politically-inspired and/or based on questionable computer models.

What is certain is that the issue is being used as a political wedge to implement such things as a “carbon tax,” allegedly to provide incentives to move away from oil and coal-based energy sources. In other words, it’s merely a scheme to raise taxes; in this case a tax on something universally consumed and known to have an extremely inelastic demand curve. Great for those who make their living from taxes, but not so great for those of us who prefer to do something productive to earn a living.

So, while I support the idea of reducing our dependence on hydrocarbon energy sources — it would relieve us of the need to invade middle eastern countries for the purpose of stealing their oil — I can’t support using government and taxes as a means for achieving that goal. After all, they’ve done such a good job of eliminating crime, drugs and poverty, right? And how ’bout those Iraqis? No, I think the better solution would simply be to eliminate the impediments government puts in the way of anyone who pursues the development of potentially viable alternative energy solutions. Chief among those impediments being taxes and government regulations. But I digress.

Below is a four-part video of a presentation by Bob Carter, an Australian researcher, that torpedoes the science and credibility of those who claim that humans are the cause of global warming, or that we are even experiencing significant global warming at all. It’s divided into four parts (in total, about 34 minutes) so that busy people can digest it in smaller bites. Having seen it, you will come to understand that we have far more to fear from those perpetrating the Global Warming hoax than we do from climate change.

I don’t have a lot to add to what Keith Olbermann has to say in this video commentary. I will simply say this: Waterboarding IS torture. The America I wish to live in does not torture people. Bush’s America tortures people; even as the Bush administration repeatedly denies doing so.

Anyone who fails to acknowledge and vigorously oppose torture by agents of the U.S. government isn’t qualified to hold any position of public trust, let alone Attorney General. Every member of the Bush administration who has sanctioned torture, while denying that torture has been a key administration policy, belongs in prison and deserves to be waterboarded. I consider this ten minute commentary a must see and I thank Keith Olbermann for laying it out far better than I’m capable of doing.

Just a quick update on the result of the www.ThisNovember5th.com fundraising drive for Ron Paul. While the effort fell well short of the overly optimistic $10 million dollar goal, the $4.2 million from 36,672 internet donors it did bring in was anything but chicken feed. It also surpassed the previous $3.1 million internet record set last January by the Mitt Romney campaign. I think even Jerry Lewis has to be a bit envious of such an accomplishment.

The Refreshments - Fizzy, Fuzzy, Big and Buzzy
So just how far down do you wanna go?
Well we could talk it out over a cup a joe.
And you could look deep into my eyes like I was a super-model.
- from the song Banditos by The Refreshments

By now everyone should be well aware of the fact that the U.S. Dollar has been falling even faster than George Bush’s approval rating for a long time. A recent story about Gisele Bundchen and her rejection of the dollar immediately brought the lyric above to my mind. Uh huh.

2008 campaign and Ron Paul01 Nov 2007 02:05 am

Ever wonder what would happen if 100,000 people simultaneously ponied up $100 for the maverick candidate of their choice? That would be $10 million raised in a single day. Is such a thing even possible?

Well, this November 5th we might just find out that it is. You can visit www.ThisNovember5th.com to find out what its all about, but it’ll be much more fun to let Lovely Liv explain it for you in the 3 min. 44 sec. video below. Then grab your checkbook and make THIS November 5th one to remember. Do it for yourself. Do it for America. Heck, do it for Guy Fawkes.

Then join me in wishing my sister Michelle a happy birthday. At least she doesn’t have to share her birthday with…
