News media see no evil in US governmentImagine, if you will, a scenario in which high government officials were in the business of acquiring and selling the secrets of the U.S. nuclear arsenal to foreign governments. These foreign governments then passed the information to other, more dangerous regimes and, possibly, even to Al-Qaeda.

Add to this the fact that the F.B.I. was investigating them and had gathered conclusive evidence of their crimes. Finally, higher U.S. government officials then quash the investigation and even go so far as to silence a whistleblower with the threat of imprisonment.

Sounds like the makings of a best-selling novel or a blockbuster movie, right? Well we’re not talking about fiction here.

This is the story of former F.B.I. translator Sibel Edmonds who has been trying to get the lamestream media to investigate and report her story for years. A few months back she even offered to defy her gag order and tell all she knows to any U.S. news outlet that promised to publish it verbatim. She’s still waiting for them to call.Sibel Edmonds

Finally, however, London’s Sunday Times has taken the challenge and reported her allegations, albeit without naming names. For her part, Edmonds published pictures of those she claims were involved in the crimes. That was enough for other news outlets around the world to pick up the story and report it. That is, news outlets outside the United States. Edmonds is still awaiting a call from the lamestream U.S. media to interview her and report her allegations; the evidence of which she says is being withheld by our own government.

Now this would be a huge story, equal to or greater than The Pentagon Papers, under any circumstances. However, under contemporary American conditions this story is unimaginably huge. The Bush Administration has consistently used the threat of nuclear terrorism, either by Al-Qaeda or some crazed foreign nuclear power, as justification of its assaults on other countries and our civil rights. Now it appears that elements within the Bush Administration itself have been responsible for potentially arming these terrorists and allegedly terrorist states with nuclear weapons - and now they’re covering up that treason.

This leads me to the obvious question; which I would characterize as the question of the century:

Why is it that not a single lamestream media outlet has reported so much as a peep about Sibel Edmonds’ allegations?

I can’t think of a single reason for the lamestream media to ignore this story. At least no reason without seriously dire implications. It should literally scream from the front page of every newspaper and from every TV screen in the nation. Yet, not a peep.

The lamestream media is a willing accomplice in the cover up of the worst case of treason in American history.

The tipping point has arrived

I have to think that this will be the last straw. Numerous outlets in the blogosphere, such as Justin Raimondo and Luke Ryland, are all over this and doing the investigating that the lamestream so pointedly refuses to do. The crime and the criminals are now known and the evidence is out there. This is the crime that will eventually lead to the downfall of the corrupt American Corporate State and the lamestream media that is its willing accomplice.

It has taken years for Edmonds to even manage to get the truth out to this degree. The story should take on of life of its own now and more leaks should spring up. At some point a media conspirator may even break ranks to try and salvage its credibility by reporting the story. You can bet that the blogosphere will have already done all the heavy lifting by the time that happens though. There has to be a veritable panic in some very high places right about now.

I really believe that this will be the battle the blogosphere wins that turns the tide in the war that’s raging between it and the waning, corrupt lamestream media. The alternative is simply too horrible to contemplate. America cannot ignore and allow a crime of this magnitude, and its coverup, to go unpunished. Too many people have sacrificed too much over the last two-and-a-half centuries for us to squander what they achieved and preserved for us.

If the government that is supposed to protect us from these sorts of criminals can’t or won’t do its job, then we will have to do it ourselves. Just as the Italians did in 1945 and the Romanians did in 1989.
